Forums and Trainings

CCHI is proud to present forums and trainings for members, partners and participants in the health care community.

HIE Forum # 3

Monday, August 30th, is the third Health Insurance Exchange (Exchanges) Forum, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM. This forum will specifically address the definition of the ideal experience for Consumers & Small Businesses in the Exchange.
Areas of discussion for this forum will center on:
• Assistance available to Individuals & Small Business Consumers to select, enroll & manage participation in their health plan
• Screening individuals for the public subsidies and public coverage programs
• The structure and informed choice for Individuals and Small Business Consumers

Unlike prior HIE Forums, this event will NOT be held at National Jewish Hospital. The location is Gymnasium at Craig Hospital. It is in the "Craig West" building, at 3425 S. Clarkson Street in Englewood. Guests should enter through the Craig West front door and follow the signs straight west through the 1st floor to the gym.

Craig has a 3-story free parking structure with signage on the SE corner of S. Clarkson and Old Hampden, 1 block south of the hospital. The top floor typically has lots of open spaces and no code is necessary to access the structure. In addition, there is a Craig surface lot on the NW corner of S. Emerson St. and Old Hampden, on the east side of Swedish's 6 story parking structure. Please do not park in the Patient and Family Housing lot at 3427 S. Emerson or in the employee lot on the corner of S. Clarkson and E. Girard. There is also street parking around the neighborhood, particularly on E. Girard, east of S. Emerson.

Amendment 63 - Colorado Deserves Better

Now officially titled Amendment 63, Coloradans will be asked this fall to opt the state out of National Health Care Reform, and specifically, the individual mandate. Jon Caldara, of the Independence Institute, has successfully qualified a proposed amendment to the November 2010 General Election ballot. This is a measure that would force higher health care insurance costs on business and individuals, while also setting off a barrage of expensive lawsuits.

A campaign, Colorado Deserves Better, has been formed to fight this proposed Constitutional Amendment and ensure its defeat on Election Night. CCHI is asking our members to attend an important campaign briefing on Friday, September 10th from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM. It will be held in the Second Floor Conference Room at the Children’s Hospital in Aurora (located at 13123 E. 16th Avenue, Aurora, Colorado). More information can be found HERE.

Whether you may be a current or prospective coalition member in this fight, your participation is highly recommended in order to ensure barrier-free access to quality, affordable health care.

An RSVP to this event is requested, directed to the Colorado Deserves Better campaign director, Kirpal Singh at kirpal@coloradodeservesbetter.com. Seating will be limited. Both validated parking & remote participation is available.

CCHI’s Member Forum

Thursday, September 16, 2010 will be CCHI's rescheduled Member Forum. The forum will be held in the Community Room at the Gill Foundation, located at 2215 Market Street, Denver, CO.

This is our member’s best opportunity to convene before the Legislative Session in 2011 begins. We will be discussing the intended policy agenda for the upcoming year, the status of prior legislation (like HB10-1160) and other discussions centered on the Health Insurance Exchanges. If your organization has thoughts about any and/or all of these topics, make sure to head out to our Member Forum for a great brainstorming session.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Jin Alexander Tsuchiya, CCHI’s Field and Member Director. He can be reached by phone at (303) 839-1261 or by e-mail at jtsuchiya@cohealthinitiative.org. In your e-mail, please be sure to include your name, position, organization and both an e-mail address and direct phone line.

We hope to see you all there next month!
